Godan verbs as a desire

Godan verbs as a desire

Oct 22, 20251 min read

Godan verbs are made a desire by performing an い-stem transformation and appending the desire helper verb たい.1

Example

買う (buy) → 買いたい (desirable to buy)

Info

買う is transformed by shifting from the う-stem to the い-stem. たい is then appended to make it into the desire form.
