  • 00:05 - There are three verb groups in Japanese. Verb groups only effect the way that verbs are changed into different forms.
  • 00:20 - The first verb group in Japanese is called β€œichidan” which end in -いる or -γˆγ‚‹ (any い or え row kana plus γ‚‹).
  • 00:44 - To change an ichidan verb you simply remove the -γ‚‹ on the end and attach what you want.
  • 01:03 - The second verb group is β€œgodan” and it covers all of the possible verb endings. Verbs that end in いる or γˆγ‚‹ may sometimes on rare occasions be godan verbs instead of ichidan.
  • 02:03< - The third verb group is β€œirregular” verbs. There are only three irregular verbs (くる, いく and する).

  • 05:06 - The second godan ending group is β€œγ¬γΆγ‚€β€. This group consists of verbs ending in ぬ, ぢ, and γ‚€. To transform them to the て or た form their ending is removed and replaced with んで or んだ.
  • 06:39 - The third and fourth godan groups are similar and can essentially be grouped together. The groups are く and ぐ. く is transformed to いて or γ„γŸ, ぐ turns into いで or いだ.
  • 06:55 - 歩く β†’ 歩いて / ζ©γ„γŸ; 泳ぐ β†’ 泳いで / 泳いだ.
